MA Marketing 1977 Reunion

30 October 2012

The Masters in Marketing class who met in Lancaster in the autumn of 1976 were reunited  in London on Saturday 6th October for an afternoon of reminiscence. Twelve classmates and friends travelled from Australia, Canada and Cyprus and across the UK to share stories, laughs, memories and lunch together.

Over lunch, each member of the group in turn gave a potted history of their lives since Lancaster, the ups and downs of careers and personal lives, and recounted the news of those who could not be there in person.

Professor Jim Bowey, who now lives in Montreal, gave an emotional speech in which he thanked each person for the special gift that their friendship had given him as he went through life. He thanked classmates for their inspiration and example, their thoughtfulness and healthy competition. He also thanked Professor Geoff Easton for his support throughout his PhD which took a remarkable 21 return trips to the UK to complete.

Some extraordinary stories were shared that afternoon. Some extraordinary lives have progressed with their Lancaster experience behind them and the friendships made have endured and influenced one another over the years and across the miles.
